Catching up

Devin has really gotten good at t-ball! He is a natural at everything he does.

He is now a yellow belt in karate and has one heck of a round kick!

Mackenzie is getting to be quite a handful. She is so smart! We are waiting for her to start taking her first unassisted steps any day now. In just one more month she will be one year old!!!!!!

Catching Up

Where to begin.... I promised myself when I started a blog that I would try to update every couple of days, I obviously need to work on that a little bit. The foot is better now and almost back to normal. I don't know if I could ever put myself through that again.
Since my last post SO much has happened. We went to the Stone Oak Winter Festival and had a blast. I will definitely be making this an annual tradition.

Devin is quite the daredevil after conquering both the tall slide and the bungee jump!

While we were there we saw a couple Karate demos. Naturally Devin fell in love with it so we went to check one out and joined right away. JD and I think that karate will be very good for Devin. Here he is getting his white belt after the trial class and a shot of him at work during his first official class!

Santa came to town on a firetruck through our neighborhood like he does every year.

Austin, Mackenzie and Devin's cousin, came to town for the first time.

Uncle Brent came to town to spend a little quality time with us.

Christmas was wonderful! Devin had a blast being around all of his family. He especially had fun with his Uncle Brent who he looks up to so much! It was Mackenzie's and Austin's first Christmas which also made it extra special this year.

I left out so many other fun things we did like birthday parties, going to see Santa, new babies, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and more. As much as I love the holidays I am happy that they are over for now so that we can get back to normality (whatever that is) around here.

We are really looking forward to this weekend and Devin's first basketball game.

We love you all and hope you had a great 2008
and an even better 2009!!!!!

Stuck here....still.

I am still sitting in the same spot since last Friday due to my foot surgery. The Dr. doesn't tell you how miserable and painful it will be to recover from the surgery. Add in the 2 kiddos to take care of while you are trying to recover yourself and you have the makings of a wonderfully long and painful day. This the picture of the "boot" and it still doesn't give justice to the actual size it really is. Supposedly I am able to drive as early as today if I want to, although I don't think I am going to attempt even getting in the car at this point much less trying to move this big ole foot from the gas to the break pedal.

I think Devin has had the best experience since he has been watching cartoons on the couch all day today since everyone else went back to work for the week. Between junk food, toy commercials (of course he wants them all and if it is a girl toy then it is for him AND Mackenzie) he is living the high life in his eyes. I, on the other hand, am going crazy and just want to get out of the house.
I appreciate all the tips on blogging and keep them coming since I obviously have a lot to learn.

A day of Firsts

OK, so I am new to "blogging" and don't know all of the ins and outs but I thought I would give it a try. So here it goes, my first blog entry. I admit that I have been kicking the idea around a while now and finally did it.
Another big first today was Mackenzie's first "meal". Devin actually attempted the first spoon full of rice cereal although most fell off of the spoon before making it to Mackenzie's mouth.

After several attempts from big brother Mimi and mommy took over and Mackenzie loved it.

Mackenzie also rolled over today for the first time! What a milestone. She is almost 5 months old and it is going by so fast. She has been trying to roll over for some time now and finally did it!

Today was a great day with all of the 1st memories and I am looking forward to many more and sharing them here on my blog.

On the other hand, I had surgery to remove a bunion on Friday and am having to keep my foot elevated for 2 days which is a pretty difficult chore for me since I am always on the go. I don't remember the last time I had this much rest since I am forced to sit in one place and not be mobile.

Papa and Grammy came by today to visit also. Mackenzie sat in Papa's lap the entire time so content.

At the end of the day when we were winding down Devin was sitting by me and said, "Mommy, I don't want to grow up. I want to be your little boy forever". That just melted my heart. I wish I could have recorded it to play over and over. They sure know how to get to you don't they.
